The 4 Drum Spill Pallet System Saves Time And Money

Using chemicals in the processing or production in your plant carries with it the possibility of spills of, possibly, dangerous material. Whether or not it is dangerous, it can also present a slip hazard. The drums and tanks you have will leak whenever a rusted drum gets hit or a plastic barrel is damaged. The containment of that should be your number one job. A 4 drum spill pallet will help in this regard.

Those many chemicals and other compounds can leak as you well know, . The rusted metal containers and the corroded and or badly handled plastic ones will also present a damaged outer skin that is ready to burst. When these events cause a spill, the EPA and OSHA have mandated regulations that must be followed to recover from this occurrence.

The standard procedure to follow for a spill is straight forward. The personnel will be evacuated from the area as well as all non contaminated material. This area is shut down and barriers are erected to keep people out. This barrier can be a permanent one that is always present or it can be a temporary berm brought in for this purpose.

The hazardous material personnel trained in the clean up will have to be used to make sure all of this spill is contained. They will be gowned to ensure they are not affected and everything will have to be placed in a drum. This drum will be sealed and delivered to a company that is certified as being a chemical disposal firm. This material might be able to be recycled.

Companies have gone into business to handle this contaminated material. It is not cheap and the regulations to follow is filled with paperwork detailing what chemicals are involved and what happened. They work closely with the EPA and OSHA to help ensure the safety of all personnel working with chemicals.

Making sure that these types of pallets are used will almost eliminate the need to deal will all of the special attention and cost when a spill occurs. They are constructed from a very tough polyethylene material that is non toxic and, more important, non reactive to most chemicals. The grates, installed in the top surface of the pallet, will allow the leakage to flow into a reservoir at the bottom where it can stay without affecting anyone.

As this leakage is notice, the pallet can be removed from the area. The production continues and the clean up area is pressed into service. The drums can be removed from the pallet and the leaking one drained into another container. The grating can be taken off and the reservoir cleaned out. No chemical on the floor means no actual spill.

The 4 drum spill pallet system of dealing with leaks and safety for your employees is a defense against problems that can be time and money consuming. The safety of your personnel and facilities can be enhanced with these. The best decision in the last several weeks could be made by calling the manufacturer and getting started.
